The Tempur-Pedic Bed – Advantages and Disadvantages of the Popular Memory Foam Mattress
[ad_1]
It seems to be on the minds of mattress shoppers everywhere. And you’ve probably seen the TV commercials. I’m talking, of course, about the Tempur-pedic brand bed.
If you don’t already know, the Tempur-pedic bed uses memory foam for support — instead of innersprings, water, air, etc. It is called “memory” foam because when you get up from it, it returns to its original, flat plane.
I’m going to tell you about its chief advantages of disadvantages. I first, however, want you to know that I’m well qualified to provide this information. That’s because I recently spent 250 hours scouring through almost 50 online forums, message boards, consumer websites, etc. assembling information from at least 1,600 people regarding their opinions of their mattresses.
Advantages of Tempur-pedic
Comfortable — Nearly 70% of Tempur-pedic mattress owners are pleased with its comfort, according to my research. In fact, many seem to love the bed.
Little or no motion transfer — Motion transfer has to do with how the bed localizes or absorbs motion. In other words, a bed that has little or no motion transfer absorbs the movement of one person on the mattress so that the other person does not notice it. According to my research, Tempur-pedic mattress owners often praised their bed for its lack of motion transfer.
Disadvantages of Tempur-pedic
Sleeps hot — This means that the bed absorbs and then fails to release a person’s body heat, resulting in a sleeping surface that is abnormally warm. About 13% of Tempur-pedic bed owners indicated that their bed caused them to sleep hot, according to my research.
Off gassing — About 9% of Tempurpedic owners reported “off gassing.” This is what occurs when the bed releases an odor that lasts a few days to a few weeks after delivery. It is a result of the manufacturing and / or packaging method. Some owners, however, reported that the smell never fully leaves. The odor can be a small annoyance to some and to others intolerable, especially those with asthma.
