Forearm Forklift – Hug Your Mattress With a Set
[ad_1]
The Forearm Forklift is the perfect tool for moving a mattress. Care must be taken when moving a mattress, and although most beds aren't very heavy, their awkwardness can be a challenge. This is where the forearm forklift can prove its worth.
Before moving a mattress to a moving truck, be sure to break it down as much as possible. Place all the rails together and wrap each end with moving tape. These railings can be placed along the side walls of the moving truck. It's best to do this early in the move, and not towards the end. Now that the railings are on the truck, pad and tape the headboard / foot-board well. I will usually place these well padded pieces along side of the truck walls as well. The mattress and box-spring will be the only parts of the bed left. And since both the mattress and box spring are susceptible to dirt, extra care must be taken.
Some movers like to place the mattress in plastic mattress protectors that can be purchased at places like Uhual, but I don't like to use them. They may slide, or rip while being transported. I like to use padding on mattresses secured with a movers rubber band. A padded mattress will not rip or tear as easily as one that is protected with plastic. Now that the mattress is padded, and ready to be moved to the moving truck, roll out the forearm forklift in a criss-cross fashion.
Place the center of the horizontal mattress on the "x" of the criss-crossed forearm forklift. Both movers should be facing each other with the mattress in between them. Although a mattress isn't too heavy, be careful when lifting. Lift the mattress on the universal lifting signal of "1..2..3..lift." Carry your mattress slowly while keeping your back straight. Once you get the mattresses to the truck, place it in your predetermined spot. Go back and perform the same moving techniques with the box-spring. High five your moving partner, and grab a glass of cold lemonade.
